Welcome to ethiopiancalendars.com (“we,” “us,” “our,” or the “Site”). These Terms of Use (“Terms”) govern your use of the Site and the tools we provide, including the Ethiopian↔Gregorian date converter and holiday listings (collectively, the “Services”). By accessing or using the Services, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Services.

3) Description of the Services

The Site provides a combined Ethiopian and Gregorian calendar view, a bidirectional date converter using integer-only Julian Day Number (JDN) math, and a curated list of public holidays with dual-label (ET/GC) mapping. The Services are offered on an informational, “as-is” basis and are intended for general use.

The Services and content are provided for general information only and do not constitute professional, legal, religious, or academic advice. You should verify dates and observances independently before relying on them for critical decisions or compliance requirements.

5) Eligibility & Local Laws

You may use the Services only if you can form a binding contract with us and only in compliance with these Terms and applicable laws. You are responsible for ensuring your use complies with local regulations.

6) Changes to the Services & Terms

We may update, modify, or discontinue any portion of the Services at any time. We may also update these Terms. When we do, we will revise the “Last updated” date above. Your continued use of the Services after updates constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.

7) Privacy & Cookies

Your use of the Services is also subject to our Privacy Policy, which explains what information we collect (if any), how we use it, and your choices. By using the Services, you consent to our privacy practices and any cookies/analytics disclosed therein.

8) Accounts

We currently do not require user accounts. If we introduce accounts later, additional terms (e.g., password security, account deletion) will apply and be published clearly.

• Do not attempt to reverse engineer, decompile, or extract source code from our Services.

• You may link to public pages of the Site, provided you do not misrepresent the relationship or imply endorsement.

10) Intellectual Property

Except where otherwise noted, the Site’s content (including text, UI, design, icons, and graphics) is owned by the Site owner and protected by applicable intellectual property laws. You receive a limited, personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to access and use the Services for non-commercial purposes. You must not copy, reproduce, modify, sell, or redistribute substantial portions of the Site without written permission. Any third-party assets remain the property of their respective owners. Geʽez numerals and calendar names are standardized labels and do not confer proprietary rights.

11) Limited License for Personal Use

You may view, print, and share links to pages on the Site for personal, non-commercial use. If you quote small excerpts for educational or research purposes, include a visible attribution to ethiopiancalendars.com. Any broader reuse requires prior written permission.

12) Calendar Accuracy & Methodology Disclosures

We publish our methodology to promote transparency:

• Date math uses integer-only JDN conversions and the Ethiopic epoch constant 1723856.
• Ethiopian leap years occur when y % 4 = 3; month 13 (Pagume) has 5 days (or 6 in leap ET years).
• We use a proleptic Gregorian model for consistency in historical conversions.
• Holiday mapping: for a given ET year, GC holidays in Sep–Dec belong to the GC “start year”; Jan–Aug belong to the next GC year; some observances shift by 1 day in GC leap years.
• Calculations are date-only (no time zones). Near midnight, local/UTC boundaries may produce an adjacent GC day label.

While we strive for accuracy, the Services may contain errors, omissions, or reflect general models that differ from local or ecclesiastical practices. Always verify critical dates independently.

13) Third-Party Links, Libraries & Content

The Site may link to third-party resources (e.g., libraries like Tailwind, Font Awesome, Google Fonts, or external informational pages). We are not responsible for third-party content, security, or practices. Your use of third-party sites is at your own risk and subject to their terms.

14) Availability, Maintenance & PWA/Offline Use

We aim to keep the Services available and fast, but uptime is not guaranteed. We may perform maintenance, change CDN providers, or update assets. If you install the Site as a PWA (if/when offered), offline availability may be partial and not guaranteed.

15) Disclaimer of Warranties

THE SERVICES ARE PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE.” TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, WE DISCLAIM ALL WARRANTIES, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE SERVICES WILL BE ACCURATE, ERROR-FREE, SECURE, OR UNINTERRUPTED.

16) Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, WE SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, EXEMPLARY, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF DATA, PROFITS, REVENUE, OR BUSINESS, ARISING FROM OR RELATED TO YOUR USE OF THE SERVICES, EVEN IF ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES. OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIM RELATING TO THE SERVICES SHALL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF (A) THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US (IF ANY) IN THE 3 MONTHS PRECEDING THE CLAIM OR (B) USD $1.

17) Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless the Site owner and affiliates from any claims, liabilities, damages, losses, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys’ fees) arising out of or in any way connected with your misuse of the Services or violation of these Terms.

18) Governing Law & Jurisdiction

These Terms are governed by the laws of India, without regard to conflict-of-laws principles. You agree to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts located in Kolkata, West Bengal, India, for the resolution of any dispute arising from or relating to these Terms or the Services.

19) Termination

We may suspend or terminate your access to the Services at any time for any reason, including if we reasonably believe you have violated these Terms. Upon termination, the rights granted to you under these Terms will cease immediately.

20) Severability; No Waiver; Assignment

If any provision of these Terms is found unenforceable, the remaining provisions will remain in full force and effect. Our failure to enforce any right or provision shall not be deemed a waiver of such right or provision. You may not assign these Terms without our prior written consent.

21) Entire Agreement

These Terms constitute the entire agreement between you and us regarding the Services and supersede any prior agreements or understandings.
